The Bloomin’ Kent Adventure

Hosted by The Shire of Kent

Experience the Shire of Kent on a guided bus tour showcasing Nyabing, a small town bursting with wildflowers and history in the Great Southern Treasures.

First stop is amongst native bushland around Nyabing, to search and learn about its native floral beauties! Watch out for Spider Orchids, Fairy Orchids, Cowslips, Hare Orchids, Ballerina Orchids or the rare sighting of the Williams Spider Orchid.

Next, we’ll head back in time to learn about the history of Nyabing, visiting the Nyabing Settlers Hall. This local museum was built in 1915, and has housed the school, church, community hall and even the Kent Road Board Administration Office.

A quick pit stop as we head into the local Community Hub for a yummy afternoon tea! While you enjoy your treats, a representative from the Nyabing Progress Association will provide an information session, of how a passionate and determined community took one little idea, and turned it into a fantastic community project.

Later in the afternoon, join us for a tour of a local family wheat/sheep farm. From seeding to harvest, lambing to shearing, learn everything about a working farm in the Great Southern. As golden hour approaches, its photo time! Be transported to the middle of a tall stunning field of canola, or overlooking the magnificent field of gold, perch yourself upon our unique Bloom Festival giant swing ‘Bing Swing’. Your final treat, a sunset bonfire overlooking the farm with free drinks and nibbles.
