Nestled within the picturesque landscape of the Shire of Kojonup, Muradup is a small farming community with deep roots in the region’s agricultural heritage. Once a thriving town with its own school, post office, and general store, Muradup served as an important local hub for surrounding farms and families. Though the township itself is now quiet, its spirit lives on through the generations of farming families who still call the area home, many of whom are descendants of the original settlers and pioneers who helped establish the district.
Visitors driving through the area can soak in the vast rural vistas of golden paddocks, rolling pastures, and classic farming landscapes that characterise this part of the state.
Muradup Attractions
Agricultural Hall
The District Hall was built in 1909 from locally fired clay bricks, with major extensions completed in 1936. The hall, which has been in continuous use for a century, has served as a school, sporting venue, polling place, cinema, and has hosted many dances, parties and other social functions.
Muradup War Memorial
The war memorial, built by the Football and Cricket Club, is unusual in as much that it was first unveiled in 1916, making it one of the first erected to honour those who had enlisted for World War I. Names of those who died in subsequent conflicts have also been added. The memorial is maintained by the locals to this day.
