Welcome to the Great Southern Treasures
A region famed for its biodiversity, wildflowers, breath-taking mountain ranges, rich farming history and world class produce.
Each year, the Great Southern Treasures’ Bloom Festival provides activities spanning across nine rural shires that make up the Great Southern Treasures region and their respective 21 communities.
The festival celebrates the renewal of Spring, focusing on the wildflower tapestries & town cultures that make up this amazingly diverse region, and provides a unique experience for an estimated 15,000 visitors, a mix of locals, and visitors from around the country.
Events include arts, crafts, displays, exhibitions, fauna & flora-themed activities, food events, guided tours & hikes for those who want more of a challenge, heritage trails, markets, Noongar culture events, open gardens, wine & dine events, and creative workshops.
Who can hold an event? Individuals, organisations, community groups, businesses – and there’s no minimum size requirements either! As long as it’s held within one or more of our 21 towns.
If you are interested in including an event as part of this year’s Bloom Festival, please complete the online EOI as soon as possible, to ensure your event is included in all promotions & the program of events.

A network of walking, cycling, and paddling trails located around the Upper Great Southern. Providing opportunities to enjoy a varied range of recreational trail activities, this network adds significant value to the existing Drive Trail. While most of the trails already exist in some form, the majority lack trail signage or interpretative materials. The installation of wayfinding and interpretive signage at each site is currently in progress to assist visitors in selecting a trail most suitable to their skill level, interests as well as provide a level of understanding and appreciation for the region’s history, culture, and biodiversity.
